About Us

JANIS JEFFERS

I am married to Richie and a mother of 6 children with 16 much loved grandchildren.
Our farming background and life in the rural community gave me the opportunity to be involved in a range of voluntary roles during our children’s school years.
I was employed by Sport Waikato for 25 years coordinating and facilitating Sport and Recreation programmes and Managing Events within the Waikato District.  I am now retired (sort of) and loving finally having time to travel around our beautiful country on roadies, playing golf and generally enjoy time spent with family and friends.

My Golf journey began as an invited guest to attend one of Marnie’s first Bootcamps in Te Awamutu.  I was totally out of my comfort zone as an absolute novice.
The rest is history as Golf became a huge part of my life from that week on.  It led me to managing NZ Womens Trans Tasman Teams along with Waikato Interprovincial Women and Junior Girls Teams.  I thoroughly enjoyed being involved with so many talented and focused young women.  More recently I am honoured to have become a member of the Manawatu – Whanganui Eagles Golfing Society.

Marnie and I became great friends and work colleagues due to our various roles at Sport Waikato and Waikato Golf.  We initiated a number of very successful beginner golf programmes for Women and Children throughout the greater Waikato Region over a number of years.  We were also involved with NZ High Performance Golf, Marnie as an exceptional Coach and myself as a Women’s Team Manager.
We both share a passion for encouraging all ages and stages to learn how to play and most importantly enjoy the Sport of Golf.
